NY State Section Coordinators Meeting

Attendees:  Danny Cavallo, Diane Noga, Dan Salmon, Guy Madsen, Joe Sagaria,

                   Harold Weissman, Steve Neithardt, Pete Pennelle, Don Jordan

 

East Region Reps: Corey Wright, Patrick Holden

 

Sections hosting State Games exchanged Tourney brackets.   Missing were 10-11 and

Junior baseball.   Also 9-10 and 11-12 Softball.   Missing brackets to be handed out

at State meeting on Saturday.   Once Teams’ numbers are drawn for State Tournaments, they must stay that way.

 

Danny handed out Tourney information packs to all present.   They include dates, sites, pool play scenarios, and double elimination brackets for 3, 4, 5, and 6 Teams.

 

Danny asked Section Coordinators to update the number of Leagues in each District

in their Section.

 

Danny suggested making all Tournaments, except 11-12 boys, at the same Site

for two (2) to three (3) years.

 

Corey pointed out that Massachusetts and New Jersey already do this.

 

Danny suggested two (2) different plans for Hosting; Plan A would be a three (3) year Site for all, wth the exception of, 9-10 and 11-12 Baseball and 11-12 Softball.   Plan B was that all Tournaments, except those already on a three (3) year plan, have a Site in place at least one (1) year ahead of scheduled date.

 

Danny polled the Sections to see which they were in favor of:

 

Section 1 liked the way it is now.

Section 2 said only 3 Districts do Tournaments anyway.

Section 3 liked A

Section 4 liked A

Section 5 said either A or B

Section 6 liked the way it is, but commented that if a Section cannot host a certain     Division, then remove them from the rotation that year.

 

Corey suggested doing a three (3) year plan for 10-11 Baseball.

 

Steve suggested that for 2011 Sections must have Sites at 2011 Fall meeting.   If a Section cannot host, a show of hands would indicate who would be willing to take the Tournament.   If more than one wanted it, Harold said to draw cards to determine the Host.

 

Corey said that he needed the Final Sites for all Section Games.

 

 

Danny stated, that in a Six (6) Team Pool the crossover game must be played, unless prevented by weather.

 

Corey mentioned that 9-10 Baseball and 9-10 Softball Invitational Regional Teams should arrive on Friday, July 30th, at respective Sites.
